The name of Per Du will forever be a synonym for our barn. This brillant grey mare for sure is the outstanding horse of our breed. As a three-years-old she was entered into the Trakehner stud book and finished her mare performance test with a good result. Manuela Dörfler presented her during the "Tag des Jungen Pferdes" in Ansbach and Per Du became champion. At age four she represented our barn and breeding district adequately during the Federal Broodmare Show in Neustadt/Dosse.
As a four-years-old American Shawna Harding achieved some nice victories and placements with her in young horse classes. Per Du was an excellent sport horse, she was successful in dressage contests up to intermediate level (M/B). Nicki took part in the first novice dressage contests of her show career with Per Du. Even nowadays schoolmaster Per Du is perfect to teach small riding pupils the basics of riding.
After the end of her sports career Per Du started a second - quite obviously as successful - career as a broodmare. During the VI. Bavarian Broodmare Show in 2001, Per Du was choosen age class champion of the 9 to 13 years old mares. During the VII. Bavarian Broodmare Show in 2009, she showed up in top condition as a member of the honorary class and undisputedly took the title of champion mare family of this gorgeous show together with her daughters Passion and Pretty Woman.

Per Du was sired by Unkensee, once described as "stallion of impressive size, considerable frame and good points" and successful in dressage contests up to intermediate level. His career earnings were 3.190 DM.
Unkensee's sire Karneval is a representative of the nearly vanishing stallion line of magnificent riding horse producer Ibikus, his pedigree is stamped by a line breeding (2./3. generation) to legendary Webelsgrund stallion Impuls. The Kassette dam family, especially the branch of Kaprice II, is one of the most important dam families in Western German Trakehner breed. Premium mare Kaprice II, entered into the German Performance Stud Book, dept. D, was a full sister to the stallions Karneol, Kassius, and Kapitän. The silverware of her breeding heritage surely is Karneval's full sister Karben, who makes Kaprice vividly alive in the world famous stamping sires Caprimond and Kostolany.
Unkensee's dam Unkenspiel represented the Urania family, which among others produced advanced-level show jumper and licensed stallion Ulexis. Unkenspiel's dam sire Donauwind made himself immortal with impressive offspring highly merited in breeding and sports. Third sire Oekonom, a son of Ehlert's solid foundation mare Mira (Hunnesrück stud), was mainly acknowledged in warmblood breeding.
Unkensee's granddam Unkenlied was a full sister to Unkenruf, who was a successful Grand Prix dressage horse in Belgium and the US after his breeding career in Germany. He sired two ATA-approved sons and became grandsire of Lord Luciano; among his offspring are also Oldenburg stallions – Unkenruf is third sire of the well-renowned dressage horse producers Don Primero and Don Schufro.
Unkenseeproduced quite a number of advanced-level dressage horses, such as Amselruf, Hierro, Poseidon and approved Fabricio. Among his 39 daughters we find rather influencive broodmares, such as Orissa (dam of approved Opernball), Herbsttochter (dam of advanced-level dressage horse Highlight), Güldene II (dam of advanced-level dressage horse Genoveva and intermediate-level show jumper Gina), and Osterglück, who became Federal Champion Mare during the Neumünster Hengstmarkt 1991.
Unkensee was only 16 years old, when he died from internal bleedings.

We discovered Per Du's dam Perdita, who came from Curt Krebs' legendary dam family of Pregel's sister Peraea, in a very run-down condition for our barn. She thanked us for our affection by donating us this great mare. You'll find more information on Perdita on her own page.
