About Us

We aren't sure how long our farm has existed here, it was built by my husbands forefathers.  We have documents dating back to 1831, but the farm is older.  My husbands grandparents had a sawmill, farm and guesthouse here up until 1963.  There were always horses here, but I was the first with the Trakehners.

My first Trakehner Lahti  was bought in 1988. 1995 we tore what was left of the cowbarn out, and built in boxes for the horses.

As far as I am concerned, I was born and spent many years of my youth in Los Angeles, California.  My father was an American born in China, my mother is Irish, and is in Ireland.  That explains my bind to both America and Ireland.

We are a family of five:  My husband Franz Raili, our three children Nicki, Seppi and Franz Jr.

My husband is in charge of building whatever paddocks I may need, as he has a construction company which fits in well with the farm.  He's becoming well known for his good paddock system, and his efficient and not to expensive riding grounds.

The boys are both in charge of any maschinery, or hay baling, or whatever technical work there is.

Nicki and I are in charge of the horses.  I being more manager, and Nicki does the riding and training.

Our personal opinion to
the type of horses we want to breed
:
Our goal is to breed rideable, healthy competition horses with that special Trakehner flair.

As far as I'm concerned, the most important ingredient to bringing up healthy horses are to have them out and moving right from day one on the field.  All of our horses enjoy time on the field every day, even our top show horses.

Not only does the free movement harden the limbs, and supple the joints, it's also important for them to gallop hard and develop the lungs, however the most important thing is it's good for their state of mind and spirit!

During the winter months they all have access to paddocks with solid footing and shelter.

Its no use in breeding, if you aren't capable of selling horses.  In order to sell horses they must have a solid basic training.  Nicole is responsible for the breaking in, training and showing of our horses.

Nicole started riding as a child with the Irish Olympic rider Anna Merveldt.  She now trains almost daily with Anna Merveldts scholar, Dagmar Kirch.

She doesn't only compete succesfully from show classes up to advanced in dressage, but she also rides the horses out into the country side to let them wind down and relax.
